Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has said the state will soon domesticate the Fiscal Responsibly Act as a bill on the domestication is already before the state’s House of Assembly for effective deliberation.
The governor made this known when he received a delegation from the Fiscal Responsibly Commission (FRC) in his office led by the commission’s Chairman, Victor Muruako.

“We already have a Fiscal Responsibility Bill in the pipeline, at the state House of Assembly. And when we are through with it we must have a synergy with your Commission for us to have a workable law,” he said.
In his address, the FRC Chairman revealed that the commission was in the state for a 2-day fiscal transparency and accountability sensitisation workshop for stakeholders and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) across the North West geo-political zone.
He explained that only 22 out of the 36 states in the country had enacted the Fiscal Responsibility Law to complement the federal government’s Fiscal Responsibility Act
He said the pronounced weakness in the fiscal governance of subnational entities was a huge risk to the economic wellbeing of Nigeria.
