Kano State Government has terminated a contract for construction of multi-million naira Dawakin Tofa carriage way and re-awarded the same to CCECC Nigeria Limited at the cost of N651,844, 966.51 million.
The contract for the road project, which was earlier awarded to Rocad Construction Nigeria Limited in 2012 with KNUPDA as supervising agency, was abandoned by Rocad midway, a situation that resulted in hardships to inhabitants of the area due to poor condition of the road.

The state Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting held at the Africa House, Government House, Kano, said the council has equally constituted a committee to assess the situation of similar dual carriageway projects in the local government areas across the state.
The measures, he said, were part of efforts by the state government to evaluate, redesign, complete, or terminate any contract awarded for such projects.
