Journalists under the aegis of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) North west zone have appealed to the Kano State government to be proactive by commencing preparations towards hosting the 2022 edition of the National Youth Games (NYG).
The Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports had announced Kano as the host of the 2022 edition of the largest gathering of Nigeria’s sports cadets.

The sports writers at the end of their zonal meeting in Katsina State lamented that a few months to the commencement of the games, preparations were yet to commence towards hosting hitch-free games.
The body, therefore, said there is an urgent need for Kano State to begin preparations for the sports festival.
SWAN stated that hitch-free hosting of the games by Kano State will attract more hosting rights for other states in the region, adding that “it will give a positive narrative about the zone as against the perennial negative narratives.”
Consequently, the group urged the host state to proceed to set up all the relevant structures that will facilitate the smooth hosting of the games in the ancient city.
