The Executive Chairman, Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Malam Yusif Kabir said the board has recovered thirty-six million Naira from its recent staff promotion verification exercise.
The chairman announced this while addressing executives of the Local Government Payroll Standing Committee who paid him a courtesy visit to his office.
He explained that the board had observed irregularities in the implementation of the last promotion by the past administration and this prompted the removal of the promotion after the verification exercise.
He said, “To ensure that only those who are due were promoted, a review of the promotion was conducted and the finding is highly impressive, we recovered the sum of thirty-six million naira, which was flushed to teachers who were either not due or wrongly promoted.”

According to him the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has good intentions to improve teacher’s welfare and this could only be achieved if due processes were strictly adhered to.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Local Government Payroll Standing Committee, Mallam Umar Idi said they were at the board to brief the chairman on the mandate and responsibilities of the committee.
