Kano State branch of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) has announced the resumption of the federal government anchor borrowers scheme.
Announcing the resumption in Kano, the state chapter Chairman of RIFAN, Alhaji Abubakar Haruna Aliyu, revealed that the resumption followed the directives received from the national body of the association.

“It is apparent that the hard decision taken by RIFAN on the suspension of the scheme in Kano State has been reviewed in view of the implication it has on the smallholder farmers, the state, and the federal government’s agricultural intervention scheme in Kano.
“I wish to inform rice farmers in Kano State that we have resumed on the scheme, and distribution of inputs to screen rice farmers is currently in progress,” he said.
It could be recalled that the scheme was suspended last week over an alleged fraud of N10 billion of the fund meant for rice farmers in the state.
