Kano receives donation of 10 ventilators, food items for COVID-19

Ten units of respiratory ventilators, assorted food items and protective equipment worth multiple millions of naira have been donated to Kano state government in support of its efforts at combating coronavirus pandemic in the state.

The items were donated by Zedvance financial solution and Kano Electricity Distribution Company KEDCO to complement the Ganduje three point approaches in handling the novel coronavirus outbreak.

About 1500 bags of rice (10kg) and 1500 gallons of cooking oil were handed over to Gov Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in the presence of the members of state taskforce committee on COVID-19 by the Managing Director, KEDCO, Alhaji Tajjuddeen Alhassan Dantata.

The power distribution company also presented a cheque of N2m was also presented to the governor to bolster the government’s effort in dealing with the pandemic.

Speaking while presenting ten units of respiratory ventilators and over 1500 N95 face masks, the Managing Director, Zedvance, Ever Obi said the gesture was meant to identify with the government and people of the state in their current predicament occasioned by the novel virus.

He described Kano as their business stronghold hence the need to give back to the society.
He said talks are in process to identify more areas of intervention especially in refurbishing a 100 bed capacity isolation centre in the state.

Ganduje who was visibly delighted over the gesture described the donations as timely, saying they are in line with the government’s three points agenda in fighting the disease.

He thanked the donors even as he promised to ensure that the items are maximally utilized for the purposes for which they were meant.
