Kano re-run: Government’ll not tolerate any breach of peace’ – Ganduje

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state, yesterday warns that the state government would not tolerate any breach of peace, under whatever guise, in the state, assuring that, his administration would not fold arms and watch people instigating instability.

In a press statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Abba Anwar, Ganduje said “As a governor and chief security officer of the state, I cannot sleep if any drop of blood is wasted. Brandishing of harmful objects is also abhorred by my administration.”

The statement added that the assertion was made when an amalgamation of over 300 different associations, under the platform of Kano Peace Ambassadors paid him a visit assuring him of their resolve to promote peaceful coexistence before, during and after the next Saturday’s gubernatorial re-run election.

“They marched from the Emir’s Palace to the Government House, in thousands, and the governor received them at the main gate of the Government House,” the statement added.

The governor said he was not speaking as a gubernatorial candidate, but as the executive governor of Kano state and the chief security officer of the state, that “Anybody wishing to disrupt the peace and stability of the state will not go free. Kano is a very peaceful state and must remain peaceful.”

“A Peace Accord was signed before the gubernatorial and state assembly elections. After the signing of the Accord, I invited all the contestants for a group photograph. Which they all joined at the venue of the signing event,” Ganduje said.

The youth commended the governor for what they called “Political statements, that prove to be in line with peaceful engagements. Anyone you see here, Your Excellency, is a Peace Ambassador.”
