Kano Pillars target maximum points against Rivers United

Kano Pillars football club are confident of picking all three points when they take on arch rivals Rivers United this afternoon in their week six match of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, at the Ahmadu Bello stadium Kaduna.

Pillars who are in 10th position with eight points from five matches are aiming for at least the fifth place, if they would achieve their target of a resounding victory over Rivers United.

The ‘Masu gida’ boys also stand a chance of dislodging Lobi Stars from fourth position, if they can score as many as three goals without conceding any.

Lobi Stars are in fourth place with goal difference of plus four while Pillars have goal difference of plus 2 and can achieve their aim after today’s tie.

However, in case of either scored or barren draw, Pillars will only displace MFM who are in eight position on nine points with goal difference of plus one.

Meanwhile, the Stanley Eguma led Rivers United are also aiming at victory to dislodge Nasarawa United from the top position.

The ‘Pride of Rivers’ on 12 points are just two points behind the table toppers and victory over Pillars will catapult them to the top with 15 points.

Pillars no doubt have their work cut out as their opponents who are on a good run in the continent having reached the Confederation Group stage Cup playoff are full of confidence going into the match.

Interestingly, both teams have suffered only one loss each in the five matches they have played so far.

While Pillars defeat came against Enyimba FC in week five, Rivers United were beaten 1-0 by Wikki Tourists in week four.
