Kano Pillars postpone indefinitely interview for shortlisted coaches

Pillars had announced that six coaches out of the 25 that applied for the vacant position

Kano Pillars have suspended indefinitely the planned interview for the six short-listed coaches for the position of technical adviser.

Pillars had announced that six coaches out of the 25 that applied for the vacant position of technical adviser would be interviewed on Wednesday, September 1 in Kano.

The shortlisted coaches as announced by Kano Pillars are former Nigerian internationals, Emmanuel Amuneke and Salisu Yusuf, former Enyimba and Wikki Tourists coach, Usman Shareef Abd’Allah, former Katsina United handler, Henry Makinwa, Hakeem Busari Shola and Erol Akay.

However, in a sudden change, the management of Kano Pillars issued a statement yesterday suspending indefinitely the planned exercise.

The Spokesman for Kano Pillars, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa said the decision was taken at yesterday’s emergency meeting of the management at the club’s secretariat.

The statement said “The board has reviewed the time for the shortlisted coaches to attend the interview. The new date and time will be announced in due course.”

Malikawa also said the shortlisted candidates for the plum job have been informed of the new development.

Meanwhile, a reliable source has confided in Daily Trust that Salisu Yusuf and Usman Abd’allah who are Kano indigenes are highly favoured to land the job.

While Yusuf is a former coach of Kano Pillars, Abd’allah will be having his first stint with the ‘Masu gida’ boys, if he is appointed.

Former Barcelona Star, Emmanuel Amuneke who won the world U-17 championship with the Golden Eaglets in 2015 and had a brief spell as coach of Tanzania is another strong contender for the position.
