A Kano state based nongovernmental organisation, Kano Leadership Enlightenment and Advocacy for Development Initiative (Kano LEADS) has rejoiced with citizens of the state who were recently conferred with national honour awards by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the NGO, the conferment to the sons of the state is a clear testimony of their sterling virtues as statesmen as well as their great reputation and contributions to the collective quest to move the country forward.

LEADS, in a statement signed by its Convener and President, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim Dankani, said the nominations and endorsement of the Kano sons as the recipients of the national award is a great feat recorded by the state.
She said, “The awards, proved the caliber, integrity of the awardees and boosted Kano’s name in the national stage.
“The organisation takes special recognition and expressed immense delight at the endorsement of her members, Board of Trustees, Major General Salihi Magashi, Minister of Defence and Dr. Bahir Aliyu Umar who received the prestigious national laurels of the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) and Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) respectively.
“In Kano state, We are very proud of your achievements which should be documented on the wallpaper of life at this material time in our history as people and we’re hopeful that this prestigious national honour will serve as a stepping stone to greater heights and glory on the national and international stage,” the statement added.
Daily Trust reported that about 16 people from Kano state were conferred with the national awards during the recent investiture held in Abuja.
Prominent among those conferred from the state were Minister of Defence, Emirs of Kano and Bichi, DSS DG, Chief of Naval Staff and chairmen of BUA Group and A.A. Rano Petroleum among others.
