The Kano State-Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (Kano-NEWMAP) says it is making effort toward conserving indigenous tree species that are vulnerable to extinction.
It said this was in its effort to address environmental challenges like climate change, erosion, desertification and other forms of land degradation.
This was disclosed by the State Project Coordinator (SPC), Alhaji Musa Shu’aibu, while talking to the state Commissioner of Environment, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, on a visit to some of the project’s intervention sites in the state.
He added that the project aimed to save the endangered species through the establishment of a botanical garden where the tree species prone to extinction are identified and nurtured.
