Other substances intercepted were 1,760.08 kilograms of Codeine; 5,886.454 kilograms of Diazepam; 149.453 kilograms of Pentazocine and 343.7 kilograms of Rephynol.

The command had secured the conviction of 92 drug traffickers in the state, while 55 cases of drug trafficking are still pending in court and two others had been discharged.

Ibrahim added that 157 drug users were referred for a brief intervention and 43 of them were counselled and would engage in skills acquisitions in order to earn a living.

“Throughout 2018, we have arrested 502 suspects, out of which 497 were male while 5 are female.

“Let me use this opportunity to call on parents, teachers, traditional, religious leaders and all stakeholders to continue to give all the necessary support to the command in its efforts towards the fight against drug abuse.

“We are aware of certain tricks by drug users to perpetuate their illicit act, by introducing some concoctions to form substances. We will get rid of this by God’s grace,” he said.

The commandant however commended the Kano State government for its commitment to assist the NDLEA in fight against drug and substance abuse.
