Kano moves to improve hide, skin business

The Kano State government has said the state, through the Department of Veterinary Services of the state Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, is set to revive the hide and skin business.

It said this is toward ensuring good production practices to boost the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) as well as to increase the operators’ per capita income.

This was disclosed by the Special Assistant to the state governor on Domestic Products, Malam Isma’ila Ahmed, at a one-day interactive workshop on the improvement of hide and skin business in the state through good production processes.

According to him, the government finds it important to educate operators of the business on best practices in modern hide and skin business development in the state and the country in general.

In his address, the state deputy governor, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who was represented by the state commissioner of Budget and Planning, Ibrahim Danazumi Gwarzo, said with government’s commitment to the hide and skin sector, a lot can be achieved, adding that the state will do its best to assist the sector’s development processes.

He explained that the interactive workshop will allow for inclusive contributions from the sector’s stakeholders on ways to effectively conduct the development strategies for better results.
