Kano man sues in-laws for hiding wife

A 34-year-old man, Kabiru Muhammad, has dragged before a Shariah court his in-laws for allegedly taking away his wife from her matrimonial home without his permission.

The complainant dragged three people who are relatives of his wife, Ali Dan Abba and Hadiza Dan Abba (parents) and Haruna Bala Dangwauro before the court sitting in the Hotoro Masallachi area in Kano Municipal.

However during the hearing, the wife told the court that nobody dragged her out of his house and that she went to her elder sister by herself because her husband was not taking care of her.

The court, presided over by Mallam Nasir Muhammad Ahmad, ordered that the woman should be taken to hospital for treatment for the matter to continue.

Speaking to journalists after the court session, the woman said, “I took myself to my elder sister. Nobody forced me to do that. I have been sick for a long time, but he refused to take me to hospital. That was why I decided to go to my sister in Dambatta LGA.”
