Kano man bags 9 months over land fraud

A man, Usaini Ayuba, of Ungogo LGA of Kano State, has been sentenced to nine months in prison by a Sharia court sitting in Kwana Hudu for land fraud.

The prosecutor, Aliyu Abidin Murtala, told the court that the accused received money amounting to N250,000 from a housewife with the promise of buying a plot of land for her, but that since then he switched off his phone and attempted to flee the country before he was arrested.

After pleading guilty to the charge, the Khadi, Mallam Nura Yusuf, sentenced him to nine months in prison with the option of paying N50,000 and returning the money to the owner.
