A former Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Shehu Atiku, died on Sunday after a brief illness.
This was confirmed in a statement issued by Kano State Judiciary Public Relations Officer, Baba Jibo Ibrahim.
The statement said the late Chief Judge would be buried today at 10.00am.
Late Justice Shehu Atiku retired from service in January 2015.
Sources said the late jurist would be remembered for his role in the failed banks tribunal in which he was uncompromising despite various attempts to bribe him.
He was also said to have refused to bow to threats on his life as he diligently adjudicated on cases brought before the tribunal over which he presided.
A source at the Kano State Government House said Governor Abdullahi Ganduje was shocked over the death of Justice Atiku.
