Kano LG develops software to tackle insecurity

A software to enable residents of Unogo local government of Kano report crimes has been developed.

Engr. Abdullah Garba Ramat, Chairman of the Local Government, announced this in an exclusive interview with Trust TV.

He said residents can download the software called “LURA” on their smart phones via Playstore.

“Once you download the application, it will access your phone camera, so that you will be able to snap or shoot an incident while happening on the spot.

“The next thing it will ask is why you are reporting, then the location. If you say your location, the software will automatically generate your location to the dashboard in the chairman’s office,” he said.

He said the software enables residents to quickly report any suspicious person or any attempt to commit crime without making a phone call and without revealing their identities.

“If it’s actionable information, the chairman would immediately report to the police or operatives of the Department of State Services to take action,” he added.

He said the cameras are monitored 24/7 to ensure surveillance in the council so that criminal activities or violence will quickly be  intercepted or neutralized.

However, the chairman urged for youth participation in politics, saying they have potentials to excel.
