A Kano Magistrates’ Court sitting at Yankaba has fixed January 18, 2024 for the ruling on bail application filed by three defendants in the murder case of one Nafiu Hafizu, a driver allegedly killed by a housewife, Hafsat Surajo.
The defendants, Dayyabu Abdullahi (Hafsat’s husband), Adamu Muhammad and Nasidi Muhammad, are to be returned to the correctional centre until the next adjourned date.
Hafsat is standing trial on a two-count charge of murder and attempt to commit suicide.
She pleaded not guilty to charges after confessing to the police that she singlehandedly stabbed the victim multiple times on his body after he tried to stop her from committing suicide.

The three other defendants are facing a three-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, concealment of fact and false information.
Hafsat and her suspected accomplices were arraigned before Chief Magistrate Hadiza Abdulrahman on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
The Chief Magistrate ordered the remand of Hafsat in the correctional facility and adjourned the case until February 1 for mention.
Rabiu Sidi and Rabiu Abdullahi, counsel for the three suspected accomplices, urged the court to grant the defendants bail pursuant to Section 36(5) of the 1999 Constitution as amended and sections 168 and 172 of ACJL 2019 of Kano State.
