Kano horse riders’ shooting: Police confirm seven injured

Police authorities in Kano have confirmed that seven persons mostly youth were injured by the man who opened fire at horse riders in Tudun-Murtala quarters in Kano metropolis on Wednesday.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident on Thursday, said the man, who fired at the horse riders, Alhaji Idris Ali was arrested and would be charged to court as soon as police complete investigation.

Abdullahi said, “We have disarmed the man by seizing the Pump Action gun in his possession and after investigation, we will charge him to court for illegal possession of firearm and inflicting injury on innocent persons.”

The police spokesperson added that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered for thorough investigation into the matter with view to unraveling the motive behind the shooting.

He said Ali was still under police custody and no stone would be left unturned in the course of investigation by the police.
