Kano grants N3m support to 5 journalists

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has donated N3 million as medical and financial assistance to five journalists who have been inflicted by ailments.

The Commissioner for Information and Home Affairs, Malam Baba Halilu Dantiye, who presented the cash to the beneficiaries, said the gesture was to show compassion and care as only God could heal and give them good health.

Ted Udogwu, Punch’s correspondent in Kano, got N1 million. He got burnt in a domestic gas explosion last year and is currently responding to treatment in Lagos.

Abdullahi Yakubu Dorayi, a Leadership correspondent got N500,000 which was presented to his son who came with his mother. Dorayi died after a long battle with diabetes.

Blozzonnews Nigeria’s Yakubu Shuaibu who suffered from a spinal cord injury was given N500,000. Similarly, Hajiya Bilkisu Ado Zango, the state’s NAWOJ chairperson and an active member of People Living with Disability (PWD), was presented with N500,000. Her sister received the money on her behalf.

Another beneficiary, Awwalu Muktar, of the Abubakar Rimin Television, also got N500,000. He suffered from an ailment that kept him in the hospital for a very long time.

Ted Udogwu thanked the governor for the gesture on behalf of the beneficiaries, saying the assistance given to them would go a long way to provide succour.
