Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to evacuating beggars and hawkers roaming on streets in the state.
Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr Zahra’u Muhammad Umar, disclosed this Monday while speaking with journalists in her office.
Dr Zahra’u said that all necessary arrangements had been concluded to commence the evacuation of street hawkers, beggars and people roaming the streets unnecessarily.
She said that the government had met with stakeholders including community and religious leaders as well as the traditional institutions in the five emirates of the state to brainstorm on the best approach of ridding the streets of these categories of people.
According to the commissioner, the state government has since released N4 million to effect the operation across the state.
The ministry also stated that two batches of Almajiris were received from Kaduna State recently.
It added that 47 homeless men and women would be rehabilitated and moved out of the streets.
