The Kano State Government has appointed the Ciroma of Kano, Nasiru Ado Bayero, as the new Emir of Bichi.
This is coming few hours after the state executive council led by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Monday dethroned Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.
Sanusi, who was removed on Monday over alleged disrespect to the office of the governor and other government agencies, according to the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, had been in a running battle with Governor Ganduje.
It was gathered that Sanusi was escorted out of the palace with heavy security at about 4:30pm.
However, a terse statement on Monday evening by Abba Anwar, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kano state governor, announced the appointment of Nasiru Ado Bayero as the new Emir of Bichi.
“After moving the Emir of Bichi, Aminu Ado Bayero to become new Emir of Kano, sequel to the dethronement of Muhammadu Sanusi II, Nasiru Ado Bayero, the Ciroma of Kano is now the new Emir of Bichi,” the statement read.
Daily Trust had earlier reported that security was beefed up in the ancient city of Kano as the state government announced Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the 15th Emir of Kano.
It will be recalled that Nasiru Ado Bayero was elevated to Ciroma Kano by the dethroned emir Sanusi, after he removed his elder brother, Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero.
