Kano State government is reportedly making moves to return the aggrieved Commandant-General of the State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, who resigned from his position on Friday.

Daily Trust gathered that the state Council of Ulama – a delegation of well respected Islamic clerics have been sent to meet with Daurawa to pacify him.

A source familiar with the situation also told our reporter that the Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Falgore, and the Chief Imam of National Mosque, Abuja, Sheikh Ibrahim Maqari, were equally sent by the government to meet him.

However, the outcome of the meetings with Daurawa could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

Daily Trust reports that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano had criticised the modus operandi of ‘Operation Kau Da Badala’ – an initiative of the board aimed at fighting immorality in the state.

Daurawa resigned less than 24 hours after the governor’s criticism which stirred a lot of reactions and bashing from the public.

Sources close to the government had told this reporter that the governor is disturbed by the development.

“The governor is seriously disturbed. The damage has been done,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commander-General (DCG) of the Kano Hisbah, Dr Mujahid Aminuddeen, alongside other officials of the board recently met with the Governor.

Efforts made to reach out to the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, was not successful as calls put across to him rang out. Also text message sent to him wasn’t replied to as at the time of filing this report.
