Kano State Government on Saturday demolished structures on the controversial ‘Filin Mushe’, land previously used as school by Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara.
The land, however, was already allocated by the state to other individuals who have already commenced developing structures on it before the demolition.

‘Action not related to recent ban’
Speaking to Daily Trust, however, one of the notable followers of Sheikh, Idris Bala, confirmed the demolition but said it was not on any of their leader’s properties and has nothing to do with the recent preaching ban.
According to him, “Kano State Government earlier in the morning through Kano Urban Planning Development Authority (KNUPDA) came with security agents and begin demolition on the structures at Filin Mushe.
“The demolition has nothing to do with Sheik Abduljabbar or his recent ban from preaching. In fact, the last time he used the land was over a year now.
“The state has already seized the land from him earlier and allocated it to others, it is these structures that were demolished, we have been using his residence and Jumu’at mosque since then.
“We don’t know why they are demolishing it now,” he added.
The controversial Filin Mushe land was earlier used by Sheikh Abduljabbar, who said was given to him before Governor Abdullahi Ganduje administration later seized it for alleged lack of genuine Certificate of Occupancy and later allocated to other people.
When contacted on why the state decided to demolish the structures, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba said he was not even aware of the action.
He however promised to speak to the Managing Director of KNUPDA before commenting on the issue.
Daily Trust reports that Abduljabbar was on Thursday banned from preaching by the state government over what it described as his ‘inciting comments’ and shut down his mosque indefinitely.
