The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has conducted an on-site assessment of the Kafinchiri Irrigation Project, a key initiative under the state’s agricultural transformation drive, in Garko Local Government Area of the state.
The project valued at N2.5 billion is aimed at bolstering year-round farming, enhancing food security and driving economic growth in the state.
According to the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf emphasized the significance of the Kafinchiri Irrigation Project, highlighting it as a vital component of his administration’s efforts to promote continuous agricultural production in Kano State.
He urged the residents of Garko and surrounding areas to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the project to improve their socio-economic conditions and contribute to the state’s overall development.
Similarly, the governor had announced the revocation of contract for the Garko Local Government five kilometres road project due to the contractor’s failure to mobilize to the site.
He assured that a new, reliable contractor would be appointed within few days to ensure the project’s timely completion.
He also expressed commitment to establishing a modern health facility in Garko town to bring healthcare services closer to the people.
The governor thanked the local community for their continued support and reiterated his administration’s determination to maintain the progress momentum.
