Kano gov distributes learning materials to LGAs

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has flagged off the distribution of learning materials to schools across the 44 local government areas of the state.

The flag-off ceremony was held at the government house on Thursday evening.

Materials distributed to the schools includes 120,000 cartons of chalks, 97,532 workbooks, 93,600 exercise books, 199,234 classroom registers, 350,000 reports sheets, 351 lesson observations books and national anthem books.

Governor Yusuf said, “I stand before you today as we take yet another step towards getting the education sector on its foot in Kano State. This is the revival of the unfortunate state of the education sector in Kano State with the deteriorating infrastructure, high number of out-of-school children by the former administration.

“I am happy to say that as the people’s government, we are fully committed to addressing these issues in our commitment to restore the educational system. We have been working tirelessly to ensure that we transform the educational sector in our dear state.” he said

The governor further pointed out that training and retraining of teachers has been part of the government’s priority, while it had also embarked on massive rehabilitation of schools and construction of new blocks of classrooms to ensure a conducive learning environment for boys and girls in schools.

Speaking earlier, the Commissioner of Education, Umar Haruna Doguwa, commended the governor for his untiring support to the education ministry as well as his commitment towards reviving the sector.

He said the declaration of state of emergency on education by the governor has been a promise kept and delivered beyond expectations.
