The Kano State Fire Service disclosed that its personnel have saved 104 lives and goods worth N260 million from 97 fire incidents in the state in February.
The Public Relations Officer of the service, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, who disclosed this however, noted that nine lives were lost in the incidents.
He said the service received 54 rescue calls and 10 false alarms
Mohammed identified the use of substandard electrical materials, use of boiling rings as well as poor handling of electrical appliances and cooking gas, as some of the major causes of fire incidents advising people to stop storing petroleum products in their homes to avert fire outbreaks.
