A famous singer in Kano, Naziru M. Ahmad aka Sarkin Waka, spent a night in jail after failing to fulfil his bail conditions, Daily Trust reports.
Naziru was re-arraigned on Wednesday at No Man’s Land Magistrate Court for releasing two uncensored and unlicensed songs: “Gidan Sarauta” and “Sai Hakuri” on September 12, 2019, an offence contrary to Section 100(2) and punishable under Section 112 of the Kano State Censorship Board Law 2001.

The Magistrate, Aminu Gabari, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2m and sureties to include his biological father or a relation and either a ward/village head in his area or any Hisbah commander from the 44 LGAs of the state.
However, Naziru was unable to meet the bail conditions which made him pass a night in a correctional facility.
Confirming the development, his counsel, Tajudeen Abdullahi, said, “We are now trying to persuade the magistrate to review the conditions in order for us to secure his bail.
“We tried but we realised some government agents are blocking it, we are trying to see how we can sort it out now.”
It would be recalled that Naziru pleaded not guilty and denied any wrongdoing over the alleged release of two uncensored and unlicensed songs when he appeared before the court on Wednesday.
He was granted bail with those conditions and the matter adjourned to December 1.
Naziru has been at loggerheads with the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led state government since pitching tent with the deposed Emir Muhammad Sanusi II and the Kwankwasiya movement of a former Governor of Kano State, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The two songs, our reporter gathered, are said to be derogatory to the administration which necessitated his arraignment.
