Kano Emirate Council Committee on Health (KECCoH) has partnered development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC) in the training of 128 community health workers for routine immunization and antenatal care services in eight local government areas of the state.
Speaking to newsmen during the training exercise KECCoH technical member Dr. Dayyabu Muhammad stated that, the partnership is aimed at bringing the community members particularly the community leaders to work together with the health service provides especially under the routine immunization and antenatal care services.
According to him, their coming together to work will allow for jointly planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and re-planning in improving coverage to reduce mortality and morbidity rate within their areas.
Similarly, in his address senior programme officer dRPC Malam Umar Ahmad Umar revealed that the training organised by the partnership is as a result of the findings which shows a gap in the existing relationship between the health care service providers and the communities in the management of healthcare system.
“We feel that involving the communities in the management of these health facility and also by strengthening the relationship between the two parties will assist in ensuring an effective routine immunization and improved antenatal services in the facilities,” said Malam Umar.
