Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) said it has begun presenting palliatives to the Governments of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa for onward distribution to residents of the states.
The spokesman, Ibrahim Shawai said the Distribution Company (DisCo) started initially with Kano State on Thursday, by presenting food items and some cash to the state government to help cushion the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic in the state.
The state got 1,500 bags of 10kg rice, 1,500 gallons of 4 litres of groundnut oil, and a bank draft cheque of N2 million.
KEDCO said it will handover palliatives to the Katsina State Government on Friday while Jigawa State will take delivery of its donations after the Sallah celebration.
“The palliatives are KEDCO’s way of assisting the governments of these states in view of the need for a collective approach towards defeating the virus,” it stated.
Commenting, the Managing Director of KEDCO, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, said no single government or nation could withstand the impact of the coronavirus without supports.
“Coronavirus pandemic is affecting everyone and as such everyone needs to come together to fight it through giving while adhering to protective measures too.”
Dr Gwamna also called on well-meaning Nigerians to assist the people while also advocating more sensitisation on safety measures.
