A Kano Shari’a court on Wednesday ordered that a 52-year-old civil servant, Bashir Saleh, who beat his wife be remanded in a correctional centre.
The police charged Saleh who lives in Kabuga Quarters, Kano, with assault and causing grievous hurt.

The prosecutor, Insp Abdul Wada, told the court that the wife, Fatima Muhammed, reported that on July 20, at about 9pm her husband beat her up after a minor quarrel, noting that the offence contravened Section 165 of the Penal Code.
The khadi, Malam Ismai’l Muhammad-Ahmed, adjourned to August 22, after the accused pleaded not guilty. (NAN)
