This action of the board has generated controversy in Kano, with the board being accused  for bias for not prosecuting him along with other actors who played different roles in the banned film.  Ibro is a member of the censors board.
Executive Director of the Board, Malam Ahmed Dahiru Beli said “as far as the Board was concerned, there are no sacred cows in the film industry. Whoever violates the provision of the law, will be duly prosecuted.”
He said the producer of the film has brought the film in question for preview and classification to the Board as stipulated by the law, and it was duly censored, adding that “upon the receipt of the film certificate, the producer released the uncensored version into the market.”
On the allegation of bias, Beli said early this year, the Board has prosecuted Sani Musa Danja for releasing an uncensored film and therefore could not hesitate to prosecute Ibro or any other person no matter his position with the Board if he has violated the law.
Kano State Censorship Board has under the past administration, prosecuted Ibro and the late Lawan Kaura for their roles in a film in which they staged an obscene dance with women which is contrary to Sharia.
