Kano budgets N210bn

Presenting this year’s budget to the state House of Assembly Tuesday, the governor  said N135 billion representing 64% was earmarked for capital projects while N75 billion, 36%, was set aside for recurrent expenditure.
The budget is lower than that of last year which was N225 billion.
According to the governor, the “Budget of Success”, will be devoted to the completion of all ongoing projects and execution of new ones.
N86 billion was earmarked for infrastructure, while education got N18 billion, health N4.9 billion, agriculture 2.8 billion, water N3.66 billion and environment N1.53 billion.
Other sectors include rural development N0.529 billion, women and youths N0.270 billion and science and technology N0.263 billion.
Some of the new projects to be funded in the 2015 budget are Sharada/Panshekara Underpass at N980 million, Gadar Madobi and Kwanar Dangora road at N3 billion, power evacuation from Tiga and Challawa dams at N5 billion and an independent power project at Wasai Dam in Minjibir Local Government Area at N1.2 billion.
