The Kano State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has launched a comprehensive initiative to eradicate mosquitoes and other insects from urban areas across the state.
Nasiru Sule Garo, the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, announced the initiative during the commencement of larvicidal control operations at various ponds, refuse collection centres, disposal sites, and stagnant drainage within metropolitan areas.
Represented by Alh. Abba Adamu Takai, Director of Pollution Control at the ministry, Garo emphasised that alongside larvicidal control, extensive fumigation exercises have been carried out to effectively manage mosquito populations and other insects.
“The government is committed to ensuring the well-being of its residents by maintaining a clean and healthy environment conducive to living,” Garo affirmed.

He stressed the importance of using designated waste disposal sites provided by the government to prevent blockages in waterways, particularly during this period.
