Kano State House of Assembly has mandated its standing committee on sports to urgently investigate the relegation of the state owned football club, Kano Pillars from the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
This is sequel to an adoption of a motion of public importance by member representing Rano, Nurudeen Alhassan during Monday’s plenary in Kano.

The Chairman, House Standing Committee, who described sports as the bedrock for youths’ development said Kano Pillars relegation from NPFL is a sad development which must be properly investigated to prevent future occurrences.
The house unanimously adopted the motion, and charged the standing committee on sports to investigate and report back within two weeks for further legislative action.
It would be recalled that after they were deducted six points for various offences in the 2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, Pillars ended in 19th position with a paltry 45 points from 38 matches.
Therefore, they were relegated along with Heartland, neighbours Katsina United and MFM of Lagos.
The quartet will compete in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NNL) next season.
It would also be recalled that following the relegation of Kano Pillars, football stakeholders in Kano unanimously called for the sack of the management committee and some of the tired legs in the team.
