The Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has approved the release of over $900, 000 for agricultural development projects in the state.
The Managing Director, Kano State Agricultural Development Agency (KNARDA), Dr Junaidu Yakubu Mohammad, disclosed this on Sunday.

He said $500, 000 was for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) while the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) would get over $400, 000 for the effective implementation of the Kano State Agricultural Development Project (KSADP) funded by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
The MD made this known during a training program on partnership building, participatory and extension approaches to strengthening the working relationships in actualizing the goals of KSADP, jointly organised by IITA, ICRISAT, KNARDA and other agricultural development partners in the state.
According to him, the fund is for full implementation of the program in terms of effective achievement of the desire objectives as well as training of extension agents in the state.
While outlining the training objectives, ICRISAT country representative in Nigeria, Dr Hakeem Ajeigbe, revealed that the training of the partners on partnership building as well as an effective understanding of the extension approach would go a long way in strengthening the working relationship for effective goal realization.
Similarly, in his opening remarks, Kano State Deputy Governor, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, represented by the Senior Special Assistant to Kano State Governor on Agriculture, Alhaji Hafiz Muhammad, urged all participants to utilize the opportunity of the training and make good use of what they will learn to improve the state agricultural production as well as step down the training to others for the benefit of common farmers.
