The Kano State chapters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have engaged in verbal blows over the dismissal of Salihu Tanko Yakasai, the Special Adviser on Media to the state governor.
Yakasai was dismissed on Saturday by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje for his alleged criticism of the APC-led government.

But the state deputy caretaker chairman of the APC, Shehu Maigari, in a text message to our correspondent on Sunday, said the sacked media aide “is only speaking the mind of his family which is dominated by PDP.”
“Otherwise how can the sacked media aide condemn the entire APC-led administration nationwide and at all levels? Without being told, the APC-led federal government under President Buhari has made remarkable achievements, likewise many of our state governors and legislators.
“A typical example could be seen by Salihu Tanko Yakasai in his immediate environment. So we are solidly behind the governor,” he added.
But the state chairman of the PDP, Shehu Sagagi said, “He (Yakasai) may be speaking the mind of his principal (Ganduje).
“This is not the first time he will say something like this. Only God knows what is between him and his principal.”
