Stakeholders of the Kano All Progressive Congress (APC) loyal to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje have written a counter-petition to the Inspector General of Police, seeking actions against Senator Ibrahim Shekarau-led G-7.

The petition, jointly signed by Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya (Kano North), Alhassan Ado Doguwa (Majority Leader of House of Rep) and others, accused the G-7 of criminal activities which they said led to a series of crisis in the state.

The petitioner alleged that the G-7 conspired and procured armed thugs and attempted to take over the party secretariat in Kano, urging the IG, as a matter of urgency to commence investigation and arrest the culprits.

“We are members, leaders and executives of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Kano State chapter and as responsible party stakeholders, we lodge the following criminal complaint against the above mentioned persons to enable your office same with a view at a possible prosecution of the culprits,” the petition read in part.

It added that the G-7 relied on a judgment of an FCT High Court to foment trouble in the state, adding, however, that the said judgement that favored the group was about ward congress not state and that an appeal has been filed by the state government but the G-7 could not wait until final judgment, thereby engaging in activities that caused violence in the state.

They urged the IG to step into the matter and commence investigation.

“The activities of these frustrated politicians if left unchecked will not destroy the peace that has existed since when Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje took over the leadership of the state. The ugly trend must nipped in but to avoid our state been thrown into violence and anarchy, ” the petition read in part.
