As Nigeria awaits the Supreme Court’s verdict on the sack of Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf of Kano State by the election petition tribunal and the Appeal court, a prayer session has been held in solidarity with the governor.
The prayer session held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, was conveyed by Hon. Ahmad Halliru Sawaba, Special adviser to the Governor on wildlife conservation.
Party loyalists, politicians and indigenes of the state prayed for Yusuf’s victory at the supreme court.
Following the sack of Abba Yusuf on November 17 by the Appellate court, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) filed an appeal before the Supreme Court.

Sawaba said the judiciary must ensure justice for Kano because happenings in Kano have a direct impact on the rest of the country.
He said, “We are gathered here for the sake of justice in Kano State. The way it is happening, it wanted to cause problems for the country. We call upon Federal government and the judiciary to intervene in the matter because Kano people voted massively for Abba Yusuf.
“If anything happens in Kano, it would affect the whole country, especially we Northerners in the South West. This is why we call upon relevant agencies, especially the judiciary. People voted for Abba in the sun and rain. We don’t know the reason why they would seize our mandate. We called for this prayer so that our God will intervene in the matter.”
Sawaba also assured that the party leadership was in support of Abba Kabir’s mandate because he won with a difference of 136,000 votes.
“The truth has been coming out. What was presented during the verdict is different from what is inside the certified true copy which is the genuine mandate. So, that is why the judiciary must ensure that the verdict is delivered accordingly,” he said.
