The Presiding Justice of the Kano Division of the Court of Appeal Court, Justice Mukhtar Hussain, is dead.
The late Bauchi State born jurist died on Saturday in Abuja after a brief illness at the age of 67, according to family sources.

The deceased, who was born on October 2, 1954, attended the Government Secondary School, Azare, Bauchi State.
He attended Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria and was called to the Nigerian bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the 10th of July, 1981.
He started his working career at Bauchi State Judiciary from June 1976 to October 1992. He was one time Magistrate, Secretary Bauchi State Judicial Service Commission and later Chief Registrar of the FCT High Court (1992-1996).
He was appointed Judge of the FCT High Court in 1996, a position he held until his elevation to the Appeal Court on the 8th of June, 2006.
Meanwhile, the President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria Justice Benedict Kanyip has commiserated with President Court of Appeal (PCA) Justice Monica Dongban Mensem over the sudden death of Justice Hussain Mukhtar.
While commiserating, Justice Kanyip said judiciary in its entirety had lost an icon and a formidable jurist per excellence, adding that the late Justice Hussain’s indelible contributions to the growth of judiciary and promotion of the rule of law in Nigeria would forever remain evergreen.
Justice Kanyip prayed to God to grant the repose of the deceased eternal rest and grant the family he left behind the grace and fortitude to accommodate the irreparable loss.
