The Kano State Fire Service reported that eight individuals lost their lives and properties valued at N31,650,700 million were destroyed by fire in the month of May.
According to Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the command, the Fire Service responded to numerous emergency calls from its 29 fire stations across the state in May 2024. These include 51 fire calls, 13 rescue calls and six false alarms.

“Estimated properties destroyed by fire in the month of May amount to N31,650,700, while the estimated value of properties saved by the state fire service personnel is N98,700,000,” Abdullahi stated. “Eight lives were lost, and 10 were saved.”
Abdullahi urged the public to exercise caution when handling fire to prevent destruction. He also advised motorists to drive carefully and adhere to traffic laws to avoid accidents.
