Kannywood women withdraw legal action threat against Sarkin Waka

Following the peace meeting organized by the joint effort of Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN), elders of the Kannywood filmmaking industry and Arewa Film Makers Association of Nigeria (AFMAN) to address the current mixed reactions trailing veteran actress Ladin Chima’s claim during a BBC personality profile programme, Kannywood Women Association of Nigeria (K-WAN) has announced the withdrawal of its legal action threat against singer Naziru Ahmad Sarkin Waka.

Yesterday, the Kannywood Women Association of Nigeria (K-WAN) gave singer Naziru Ahmad Sarkin Waka a three-day ultimatum to apologise to women in Kannywood or face legal action over what the association termed as defamation of character against women members of Kannywood for claiming that women offer sex for movie roles.

According to her the integrity of women members in the industry has been dragged to dust by the singer’s utterances when he claimed that some women give sexual gratification to get roles in movies.
