The feud between two Kannywood celebrated singers – Naziru M Ahmed aka Sarkin Waka and Dauda Kahutu Rarara, had taken the public by surprise. The feud that started like a normal challenge took a different dimension during the electioneering processes toward the 2023 general elections. The two singers and their supporters had pitched tents with different politicians.

The feud gradually degenerated when Naziru publicly said he was offered huge sum of money and a luxury car to join the Tinubu campaign train which he claimed to have rejected and opted to join the Atiku campaign train. His claims came at a time when Singer Rarara was having a sizzling romance with the Tinubu campaign and Naziru’s claims were not taken lightly by fans of Rarara and as such, various social media platforms were agog with comments for and/or against the two musicians.

Both music giants worked tirelessly for their chosen political camps and at the same time continued to downplay each other, especially in their lyrics.

However, after the presidential election, both artists continued their fight on social media platforms, with their supporters treading along. Similarly, after the gubernatorial and state house of assembly election, properties belonging to Rarara were attacked by suspected thugs. However, the attack was not connected to Naziru even though some quarters tried to do that.

Abba Ibrahim Samba, a Kannywood fan, who has been following the feud said the tug is normal in the entertainment industry because it is a simple quest for supremacy. “This is a normal phenomenon in the entertainment business, because these are two sensational musicians in the industry trying to have the mantle of the industry’s leadership. Their fans should understand that this is a simple quest for supremacy and nothing more,” he said.

However, for Maryam Mahadi, a fan of the Hausa film industry, “it is unfortunate that Kannywood has been divided along political party’s differences”. According to her, politicians have succeeded in dividing the industry using politics. “In places where positive advancements have been recorded, it is not a bad thing to belong to different political parties because membership isn’t by personal interest but rather by collective interest. The politicians have succeeded in establishing a political derby between the entertainment actors and are using it to their advantage,” she revealed.

Some stakeholders in the Hausa entertainment industry have considered the fight between the two singers as an act of affluence to determine who is richer.
