Speaking to Daily Trust while reacting to complaints by the residents on the Kakuri on the refuse heap, the commissioner said the ministry has been doing all it can to evacuate refuse in the state, adding that any refuse dump that requires evacuation will receive attention within the next 48 hours.
He said: “Kakuri is well covered by our contractors evacuating refuse. Recently, we reshuffled the contractors and the new ones engaged are yet to meet up fully and understand the terrain and area of coverage. So there is no neglected refuse dump in that area. 90% of the refuse in Kakuri has been evacuated and being taken care of always. But I am assuring you that in 48 hours’ time a thorough work will commence on that particular one along Arewa Textiles gutter by the new abattoir.”
He said this is the first time he is hearing of such complaint from the area which implied that the state government is performing in the right direction in terms of refuse evacuation. He promised to quickly ensure the integration of the new contractors so that they can understand Kakuri terrain and commence their responsibilities without further delay.
