The abductors of the students of Prince Academy in Dabam-Kasaya community in Chikun Local government Area of Kaduna State are demanding a N20 million collective ransom.

The ransom demand was for the five victims including their teacher, Christina Madugu.

Daily Trust reported how the students, Happy Waziri, 16, Ezra Bako, 15, Miracle Danjuma, 15, Favor Danjuma and their teacher were abducted last week Tuesday, while doing revision in preparation for the Junior Secondary School Examination.

One Benjamin Auta was also shot dead by the gunmen who stormed the village around 8:30 am.

A youth leader, Akila Luka Barde, said the kidnappers called the families on Saturday to make the ransom demand.

“Yes they called the families to demand N20 million as a collective ransom for the victims. We don’t know how they expect poor families to raise such an amount. But we are still praying to God,” he said.

Mr Luka said negotiations for the ransom were ongoing between the family members and the kidnappers.

Daily Trust gathered that the state government and the state police command are yet to speak on the issue a week after the incident.

The Commissioner Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, didn’t pick calls to his line, likewise the Police Command spokesman, Mohammed Jalige.
