Kaduna’s first rainfall on record for 2017 came on Monday, and lasted for some five minutes.
It came in very light shower people indoors hardly noticed.
Scattered light showers fell on Kaduna town, Malali, Barnawa, Mando, Kawo and Trikania among others.
Residents of the state expressed shock as the first rain is usually expected in the State around April.
They expressed worry that the light shower may further exacerbate the harsh hot weather.
Resident, Lami Ahmadu, said "I don’t consider this light shower as rain because it is too light to be called rain and I don’t think it will have any effect on the weather but if it continues, the better for everybody because the heat is too much.”
Another resident, Abdullahi Bawa, said the rain was unexpected but that it will help ease the hot weather.
However, the rain serves as a signal to farmers begin land clearing.
