The Kaduna State Police Command has succeeded in thwarting an ambush on motorists along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway by gunmen.
According to the police, an AK47 rifle, as well as four unregistered motorcycles, were recovered.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Jalige Mohammed issued in Kaduna.
“The operatives of the Kaduna Police Command attached to Buruku Division while on routine patrol around Udawa along Kaduna – Birnin Gwari road, ran into an ambush by suspected bandits in their desperate mission to perpetrate a violent crime against unsuspecting commuters.
“The police officers alongside vigilantes exhibited uncommon courage in returning fire with precision which successfully countered the ambush as the bandits were forced to retreat with varying degrees of bullet wounds into the forest leaving behind one AK47 rifle as well four unregistered motorcycles.
“The said items were recovered and taken to the Buruku Police station while effort is on to trace the whereabouts of the injured bandits to face justice,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, Yekini A. Ayoku, was said to have applauded the courage and determination shown by the officers in confronting the assailants and urged them to sustain the tempo as he is ever willing to provide the leadership required in motivating their workforce.
He also calls on the communities around the area to be watchful of any person(s) seen with a suspected bullet wound and report the same to the nearest security formation for prompt action.
