The newly recruited Kaduna State secondary school teachers have received their eight months’ salary arrears.
The development came a few days after Daily Trust reported their plight.
It would be recalled that over 7,000 teachers were recruited in 2021 by the state government and deployed to public schools across the state.
However, the teachers had been lamenting the lack of salary payment until December, 2022, when the state government paid for a few months, promising to pay the arrears.

One of the teachers who identified himself simply as Abdul said he received the eight months’ arrears on Tuesday morning.
He said, “It’s like a dream. I woke up this morning (Tuesday) to receive my eight months’ salary alert. A colleague called to inform me he had also received his.”
Another teacher who identified himself as Abubakar said he was yet to receive his, but that some of his colleagues had confirmed payment.
The state’s Teachers Service Board Chairman, Adamu Makadi, confirmed the payment of the arrears to Daily Trust.
Makadi said, “The last time you came, I told you the state government would pay them the money soon. So, now that they have started receiving, it means the government has kept to its word.”
