In a press statement he personally signed, the lawmaker said government should investigate Dokubo’s claim that the former head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari (retired) masterminded the attack on his convoy; otherwise he shouldn’t be driving in a bulletproof car on the day of the attack as it was unlike him to drive in such a car. He added that Dokubo must be brought to book because he is not above the law.
“The federal government should cause the relevant agency of the state to investigate a statement credited to Asari Dokubo, who said, among other things, that General Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) masterminded the attack on his convoy. He should equally be advised to desist from embarking on inflammatory and baseless statements capable of creating discord.
“Asari Dokubo should realise that General Muhammadu Buhari is a former head of state and commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is therefore not unlikely or unthinkable for him to drive in a bulletproof car. It is not strange because General Buhari, like any other former head of state, has the right and privilege to drive in a bulletproof car,” he said.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker has commiserated with families of the victims of the recent bomb blasts in Kaduna, as well as Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky over the loss of his three sons last week. He said the incidents were unfortunate, and commended Sheikh El-Zakzaky for calling on his members to remain calm, adding that such leadership quality is worthy of emulation.
