Kaduna in high spirit ahead of 2021 International Polo Festival

Five of Nigeria’s biggest high-goal teams, EL-Amin, Trappco Ranch, Rubicon, Malcomines and Almat, are bracing for another epic battle as the much-awaited Kaduna International Polo Tournament gallops off fanfare this weekend in Kaduna.

This year, the campaigns for the king of Kaduna polo is waxing an added allures as the high profile polo extravaganza celebrate the world’s oldest and most revered polo trophies, the 400 years-old Georgian Cup, as its biggest prize.

The competition, which is the most competitive polo event in the country, holds from October 23rd -30th October 2021 at the legendary Murtala Muhammed Square Polo Grounds in Kaduna.

Kaduna Polo President, Suleiman Abubakar confirmed to Polo Royals that foreign professionals from Argentina, Europe and South Africa are expected to jostle for top honours alongside top Nigerian polo patrons and players. 

According to Abubakar, Kaduna ‘2021 promises to be one of the exciting in years as the club is working around the clock to deliver on all fronts.

 “The tournament committee has gone the extra mile to build in some notable innovations that would deliver good value for money and time to our esteemed sponsors, special guests and thousands of polo buffs and tourists, who will be part of the grand festival”  Abubakar assures.

Kaduna Polo Captain, Ibrahim Babangida also disclosed that over 30 teams complete with 150 battle ready players, and an unprecedented 600 thoroughbred horses have been confirmed to jostle for laurels during the nine days fiesta.

Polo Royals further checks reveal that participating teams are expected from Lagos, Ibadan, Zaria, Sokoto, Abuja, Keffi, Bauchi, Minna, Jos, Yola, Port Harcourt and Maiduguri, alongside over twelve Kaduna based teams.
